Anime NYC celebrates Japanese pop culture with a cosplay contest, Japanese food court, special programming, panels, screenings, video and card games, concerts, an anime and manga library, and much more. Established in 2017, the event has been held annually at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood, with the exception of 2020, when it was held virtually.
Winners Announced for Anime NYC 2025
Anime NYC hosted four days of J-pop culture, culminating in its cosplay masquerade, where winners were chosen across multiple categories. Participants are recognized not only for the skill and detail of their costumes and props but also for their ability to bring beloved characters to life. A true celebration of artistry, dedication, and the joy of expressing fandom through cosplay.

Appliqu3 captured the coveted "Best in Show” with their stunning portrayals of Vocaloid and Project SEKAI characters: Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, and Megurine Luka. Appliqu3 is a trio of cosplayers made up of @allisun.cos, @spikeloid, and @starsplat.The talented trio brought their characters to life on stage in a performance, despite having only rehearsed together as a full team on the day of the event. Their vibrant appearances featured pink, turquoise, and yellow hair reflecting the iconic looks of their characters. Each cosplayer wore intricately designed corsets paired with skirts adorned with layers of ruffles, scallops, and pleats, sparkling sequins, bows, and glitter, creating a visually dazzling ensemble that left the audience and judges alike impressed. Details included a pair of cat ears, a tail, vinyl gloves and stockings, and a PVC based pigtail wig!
